Jury of 2024 Andrei Stenin International Press Photo Contest Announced

This year’s jury of the annual Andrei Stenin International Press Photo Contest has already been announced and will include photographers and photojournalists who won the contest’s top prize in different years.
The jury will be comprised Russian photographers Alyona Kochetkova and Alexey Orlov, who were winners of the Stenin Contest in 2018 and 2023, respectively, as well as Italian photographers Danilo Garcia Di Meo and Gabriele Cecconi, and Turkish photojournalist Sebnem Coskun. The jurors said they were honored to be given such an opportunity, adding that they are committed to bringing the stories that need to be seen to a wider audience.

"The Andrei Stenin Press Photo Contest is very important especially for the international visibility of young photojournalists. It is very meaningful for me to take part in the selection committee of a contest that I have already received an award for. Because the important thing is to always take our photographs and stories to the next step," Coskun said.

"After the winning of the Grand Prix, being part of the jury for me it's a big opportunity to give back to the photographers and to the contest what i get in 2019. It's great to have the chance to view the applicants projects and stand my voice to highlight and support the best works of the young photographers from all over the world that will apply. I hope the contest will be able to represent the complexity and the dynamics of the contemporary world pushing the language of photojournalism gives value to the deepest and significant stories of this year, " Cecconi said.
"Being part of the jury of the Stenin Contest, a prestigious international competition, which has been honoring the best works of young photojournalists worldwide for ten years, is an honor and an immense opportunity. This contest means a lot to me. I believe that the attention that connects an individual with the collective is the aspect that best represents the sensitivity of the values of this competition. On my part, I promise to dedicate all my efforts, both as an individual and as a professional, to highlight works that tell the most innovative, necessary, and humane stories, " Di Meo said.
The 10th annual Stenin Contest opened for entries on December 22 to coincide with the birthday of Rossiya Segodnya photojournalist Andrei Stenin, who was killed on duty in Donbas in 2014.
The top prize is 700,000 rubles ($7,588). The prizes for the first, second and third places in the contest are worth 125,000 rubles, 100,000 rubles and 75,000 rubles, respectively.
The contest is an annual competition organized by Rossiya Segodnya media group under the patronage of the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO to discover young talent among photojournalists aged 18 to 33. It aims to support young photographers and draw public attention to the challenges of photojournalism today. Sputnik news agency and radio is its international media partner.
