Works by Stenin contest winners showcased in Nouakchott

A special video presentation featuring photographs by the winners and runners-up of the 2025 Andrei Stenin International Press Photo Contest was held at a Russia Day reception hosted by the Russian Embassy in Mauritania.

The presentation included 48 photographs taken by photographers from Indonesia, China, Thailand, Bangladesh, Bahrain, Palestine, the Czech Republic, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Myanmar, India, Spain, Brazil, Egypt, and Russia.

Russian Ambassador to Mauritania Alexei Malenko highlighted the role of photography in fostering cultural connections:

“The works of the Stenin contest winners tell compelling stories and draw attention to important social issues that resonate with people across continents. The screening in Mauritania forms part of a broader international exchange, helping to raise awareness of the competition while offering audiences a fresh perspective on the world.”
